Unit 38 Evaluation

Evaluation In this assignment I've overcame serious barriers as well as trying my hardest to stick to my original idea without making major changes. As said in the proposal, my task was to re-dub 2 scenes from a movie of my choice. My choices were, Fast & Furious 8 and Kingsman where I had to completely remove every source of sound, to replace with my own sounds including foley and already made sounds that were locatable on the internet. Fast & Furious 8: The Fate of The Furious The first re-dub completed was the Fast & Furious movie. The scene starts off with The Rock punching the wall multiple times. As I couldn't find a relatable sound via FreeSound.org, I decided to make my own Foley sound. The way I created the sound was by banging the table in unison with the visual moving picture so that it doesn't come out of sync. As well as just recording the punches, in the original scene you can also hear The Rock breathing hard. I also recorded myself breat

Unit 31.3 Documentary Proposal

In this documentary, I'm working alongside two other people, Simon and Ali and our main topic of the documentary is about Knife Crime and Gang Culture. As we are a group, our individual productions will have the same footage but it won't necessarily mean it's going to be in the same order. This assignment is due in 17th of May, where me, Simon & Ali have important work to crack on with. Our topic for our documentary is Knife Crime & Gang Culture. The reason why we chose this is because it is a social issue that is currently still around in the community today. We all live in the South of London where stabbings and gang operation is a norm, so we have made a great decision choosing such a powerful topic to talk about. Our target audience are young teenagers to young adults (13 - 20) as well as this we are thinking of shooting in Croydon as it is the borough with the most amount of youths. Basing our documentary in Croydon would give us more of a chance to get

Proposal for Unit 38 Soundtrack

In this written proposal, I'm going to explain what I'm going to produce within my 2 re-dub projects for my final production. As of now I am writing this proposal on the 14th of March 2018 and the final due in date is the 29th of March 2018. As two projects are going to be made, 2 proposals are also going to be made for both of the productions. Fast & Furious 8 - Proposal 1 So the first movie I've already chose is Fast & Furious 8, and I've chosen a scene within this movie that has a range of different sounds such as, background music, sound effects, and dialogue. The scene I chose is the jail scene which stars, Jason Statham and The Rock. The scene is 3 minutes 15 seconds long and I may have to cut it down if I have a lot of re-dubs added to my scene. The maximum amount of time I want to spend on this scene is 2 minutes, because a lot happens throughout the 3 mins of this scene. The sounds that need replacing efficiently are dialogue between the actors a

Dubbing Workshop 4 Evaluation.

For the last workshop i decided to re-visit workshop 2 and add on some effects to the dubbed dialogue. In this workshop i used a foley effect and added a source of sound too. The foley effect i used was an effect i recorded my self which required me to go to a restaurant and record the atmosphere over there. This was useful in my project because the setting was set in a canteen and a restaurant is the closet thing that sounds similar to the canteen in schools yet it's less louder. This foley effect played from the beginning right to the end of the clip. The last source of sound i used in the video was used to create tension between the two characters. The instruments used was strings which are trigger an octave below middle C. This was used effectively in my project because it helps the appropriate mood to be set for the audience to understand what's going on. Considering that i find this project one of the best out of the other 4, i still think there needs to be improvements

Dubbing Workshop 3 W/ Evaluation

Evaluation In this workshop i've added 3 types of music based on how the mood changes throughout the scene. The scene starts with Omar making an appearance by walking into the block and as it happens, the 1st sound track is being played. The soundtrack used is "Snoop Dogg - What's My Name". I used this as an audio track to signify the dominance of Omar's walk into the block whilst the kids are running away. The track used is a typical up-beat hip hop song which relates to the way the scene opens, with kids running on the estate that are mainly from the black minority. I feel like this was a good choice of sound to use for the opening seconds of the scene because it creates a particular mood that sets the exact environment that its set in. The next soundtrack used was the conflict between Omar and the teenager. The track used was suspenseful and it was used in an effective way because Omar was sending life-threatening threats to the teenager if he didn't

Dubbing Workshop 2

Evaluation: For this workshop i teamed up with Lloyd as there was more than one character in within the scene i selected. we both recorded our voices using an iPhone and then dubbed it over the original video whilst the volume was turned down. What i felt went well was the combination of our voices. The differences in our voices, instead of having myself pretending to be 2 different people, it makes it more accurate as well as realistic when two people act out on each character. The one problem that seems to get in my way is the way me and Lloyd's voice was recorded and dubbed. When it came to aligning the recording with the video, the beginning of the recording was in time with the lip sync whilst the ending of the recorded audio clip ended up being out of sync. This was because me and Lloyd found it tricky to record our voices at the same time the actors were speaking. To improve the quality on timing with the audio recordings i could have chopped up the audio file and make

Evaluation For the voiceover workshop I had to write a script according to the scene i wanted to make a voiceover to. I chose "Omar's coming" to make a voice over to as it was short and simple to add my voice into it. Down below shows the script i made to record my voice to add to my chosen scene. As there were kids running in the scene, instead of just making a voice over for the main character, i also made a voiceover for the kids as well. My intentions of using more than one voiceover creates more tension in the scene. From where the kids run into the house is where i made a voiceover for them. The voiceover at that specific point after Omar starts threatening the kids, had been said in a petrifying tone. "Just give it to him". I've decided to include this in the voiceover because it gives the audience the idea that they are actually scared of Omar, however as there are more than one kid in the scene some would show a different feeling to the r
